ENDHIRAN: THREE DIMENSIONAL

Indian cinema, talking about Kollywood in particular, has evolved into a multi-million dollar industry spreading its wings across the globe. But whatever greater heights Kollywood has achieved, even though the use of technology in movies is nothing short of monumental, there is one element which can never be detached from a movie - Love. Whatever be the genre of the movie, one can always find atleast one strand of love in it.

When love and movies are inseparable, how different is Endhiran, which is being touted as a trendsetter in Indian cinema? Directed by Shankar with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles, Endhiran certainly will not lack in that quotient. Definitely not after taking a sneak peek at Shankar's earlier movies. Kaadhalan, Jeans, even Indian and Mudhalvan had abundance of love in it.

If you perceive love can only between a man and a woman, nature and circumstances have added one more angle to it. The one which we call - three dimensional love (Mukkona Kaadhal). Even our superstar has acted in so many movies in the past where love has been three dimensional. Right from the days of Moondru Mudichu till Padayappa,

Rajini's Veera, Arunachalam, Thambikku Entha Ooru stands testament to the other angle. And all these films have been huge successes. How can we relate this to Endhiran?

A look at the trailer and we can easily determine the romance between 'scientist' Rajini and Aishwarya. The third dimension is seen when the Endhiran Rajini claims "I want Sana. Dot". This is also evident when the Endhiran croons "Irumbile oru irudhayam mulaikuthey". The scientist also seems to be talking about deceit to the Robot. So here we go, the scientist and the Endhiran are both in love with Aishwarya and the lady is torn between the two. So no matter how sophisticated Endhiran is, even if it boasts of top class graphics and a sci-fi thriller, we can still witness the inseparable.

We can only expect, considering the hugeness of the movie, that the romance in Endhiran will be bigger than ever. This third dimension can only get deadlier in Endhiran as the Robot does not seem to know the concept of ‘compromising’. The question remains whether this is going to be an ordinary, mostly comical, three dimensional love story as in Rajini's earlier movies. Assumptions can be totally wrong and lead to speculations. We would rather perceive that this third dimension to the love is sensible and has a more "Robotical" vigour to it.
